| Searching for the graves of 4 LANHAM brothers: 1. Pvt. Notley Lanham, 45th Ga. Regt. Inf., Co. G., wounded Spotsylvania 1864, POW, was transferred to Lincoln Hospital, Washington DC, signed oath 7-18-1865. Notley never made it back home to his wife and family in Macon, GA. 2. Gilbert J. Lanham, Washington Light Arty. (Augusta Ga. unit), Pritchard’s Co., and 36th Ga. Inf. Regt. (Villepigues), Co. B. 3. George J. Lanham, Washington Light Arty. (Augusta Ga. unit), Pritchard’s Co., and 36th Ga. Inf. Regt. (Villepigues), Co. B. 4. James W. Lanham, Ga. Inf., Ogeechee Minute Men, Garrison’s Co. We believe Gilbert, George, and James survived the war and are buried somewhere in Georgia. Margaret and William Lanham, Where are you? In the 1870s Margaret Hamilton (Lanham) and her husband William Lanham moved from Hancock Co., GA. to Augusta. They lived in Augusta until his death before 1910 and her's in 1913. Mrs. Margaret Lanham Died Here Yesterday Mrs. Margaret Lanham died yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of here son Mr. Warren Lanham, at 207 Greene Street after a lengthy illness. The body will be shipped to Sparta today and the funeral will take place on arrival, the Rev. Dr. Briggs officiating. The interment will take place in the family cemetery at Sparta. She is survived by two sons, Messr's Warren and E.F. Lanham, of Augusta; one brother W.H. Hamilton, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas Roberts of Sparta. Funeral Notice Died Augusta, Ga., February 2d, 1913. Mrs. Margaret Lanham at the age of 63 years. Funeral services in the family cemetery in Sparta, Ga., this (Monday) morning on the arrival of the Georgia train from Augusta. Relatives and friends are invited to be present. |
